THERAPIES

Nutritional Medicine Institute utilizes therapies that are first and foremost safe and effective including therapeutically targeted remedies to address deficiency, toxicity and infection. We do not take a one-size-fits-all approach since everyone is biochemically individual and genetically unique. The therapy is determined by the need for each individual.

Immunotherapy

Immunotherapy involves up-regulating a compromised immune system in order to bring an individual from being immuno-compromised to a state of immuno-competence.

In addition to immune up-regulation, a second objective is immune modulation which sometimes requires the down-regulation of pro-inflammatory pathways within the immune system that result from auto-immune disease.

The enormous complexity of the immune system protects each and everyone of us from pathogenic microbes and is constantly distinguishing self from non-self. We can now manipulate this critical system of the body to promote optimum health.

Nutritional Therapy

Nutritional Therapy means using dietary changes both with food choices (good eating habits) and nutritional supplementation, to accomplish 3 primary objectives: PROTECT, ENERGIZE and REBUILD. Our bodies cannot engage in these 3 primary functions without adequate nutrient intake and since we don’t always know what is adequate, we should error on the side of optimal which isn’t a megadose of any one nutrient but is certainly more than what would be considered average.

PROTECT precedes ENERGIZE and REBUILD because without a competent immune response, we are at much greater risk of debilitating illness or even death from a common viral or bacterial infection, a rogue malignant cell or even some toxic element that you would otherwise be capable of safely detoxifying.

Detoxification

Detoxification is the normal physiological process that your body engages in daily to neutralize waste products, chemicals and toxic metals.

Many people follow detoxification protocols for colon detox, liver/gallbladder detox, whole body detox and heavy metal detox which can often be helpful but the term detoxification first and foremost means the normal daily process of the liver, kidney and other key organs in breaking down and rendering various chemical compounds harmless in order to excrete them through bowel elimination, urine, sweat or exhalation.

Nutritional Medicine Institute utilizes a variety of safe and effective detoxification techniques that help to lower the total toxic load upon your body. The secret to safe and successful detoxification is to use remedies that are not stressful to your body in any way and can be used in combination with juicing and other techniques to really make a difference.

stretch-training

Stretch Training

Stretching is one of the most beneficial–yet neglected–habits for many of us. Everything from our posture, structural balance, joint function and overall performance is dependent upon learning to stretch the right way. We train our patients the best way to stretch all the muscles for proper structural balance. Since most of us sit too much and consistently shorten our hip flexor muscles and hamstrings, it’s critical that we stretch these areas that are shortened and hyper-contracted for long periods of time. It’s been said that we are only as old as our connective tissue and stretching along with good eating habits keeps our connective tissue youthful.

Spinal/Structural Therapy

Spinal/Structural Therapy refers to several hands-on techniques to balance and re-align the skeletal system to improve bio-mechanical function.

Depending upon the symtomology of the individual, we sometimes begin with therapeutic massage. We will very often look closely at the head/neck relationship since it’s very common to have distortion or deviation in this region which can lead to headaches, neck pain and many other symptoms.

We also address past trauma, habitual stressors and occupational stressors of spinal and structural disorders in order to remove the inducers and promoters to allow the healing process to begin. Dietary habits and nutritional status also play a key role in overall musculoskeletal health.

Whether it’s neck problems, low back pain, sciatic pain down the leg or headaches, we believe there’s always a solution.

Hormone Replacement Therapy

Hormone Replacement Therapy HRT primarily refers to steroid hormones like estrogen, progesterone and testosterone but some individuals also supplement thyroid, and pancreatic hormones.

Both peptide and steroid hormones are synthesized endogenously in our bodies and are typically not something we need to worry about in our youth but as we age, the need to supplement a hormone sometimes arises due to genetic predisposition or some other inducer or promoter of impaired hormone synthesis.

Colon-Hydrotherapy

Colon Hydrotherapy

Colon Hydrotherapy involves the introduction of warm water or fresh brewed coffee into the colon (large intestine) to break up compacted fecal matter that is stuck to the walls and pockets called diverticulum. This hardened waste becomes very toxic housing a variety of pathogenic micro-organisms and should absolutely be eliminated. Unfortunately, due to our habits as humans of eating too much white flour, meat, dairy products and highly heated oils, accumulating this compacted, toxic waste is common but avoidable by improving our eating habits. The colon is the septic tank of our body and therefore must be cleansed so the rest of the body doesn’t get exposed to toxic waste.

Far Infra-Red Sauna Therapy

Far Infra-Red Sauna Therapy is a specialized sauna that uses dry heat from a specific far infra-red wave length. This technology has the unique ability to detoxify heavy/toxic metals and chemicals out of our tissues at the cellular level. This therapy is very effective when used in combination with others to address chronic illness or to simply improve ones overall function.
